  • At Snyder Fuel, our experienced drivers abide by a “safety first” motto, and we ask for your understanding that this sometimes means they temporarily cannot proceed with a delivery.

Fuel Storage Tank

Picture
You should inspect your oil storage tank once a year.
Listed below are the key points to inspect for possible problems.
If you notice any of these problems-please do not hesitate to call us at (315) 845-8742.
  • Are the tank legs (1) unstable or on a shaky foundation?
  • Are there any signs of rust, weeping, wet spots or dents on the tank (2)?
  • Is the tank blackened at the low end, around the drain (3)?
(This may be an indication of water in the tank and resultant corrosion inside the tank.)
  • Are there any drips or signs of leakage around the fuel line, filter, or valves (4)?
  • Is the vent whistle (5) is silent when the tank is being filled? (delivery person will inform)
  • Is the fuel level gauge (6) accurate and readable?
  • If mounted outdoors, is the tank protected from falling snow and ice (7)?  Is the bottom tank valve protected?
  • What is the age of the tank (8)? (Not usually indicated until after 1998)
  • Plastic fill and vent pips (9) must be replaced with black iron pipe.
(We must replace plastic pipes at your earliest convenience)
